feedback- I went back and asked Michaela again if there was any more improvements that could be made, she said that I could make it better by putting more cover lines on to fill up more gaps between the others.

draft one and feedback
Feedback- I asked my friend Michaela how i could improve this magazine cover, she said that to make it better I could use more than one colour on the text and may be use a different image that would show off the college, like the model holding books and being somewhere around the college.
I also realised that I had said the price was 10 pounds rather than 1 which is something I would have to change on the next draft
contents page conventions
Language- This contents page uses the most used conventions for a magazine. Using several images from different articles around the page, this allows the audience to see who is going to be involved in the article and therefore making them more likely to read it if it is someone the recognise, the biggest image is usually related to the main feature on the front cover. Another convention would be the colour scheme which stays the same throughout and is normally only 2 colours, this is because it then looks more professional. Large font is also used on the features section which lists all the articles that will be in the magazine, this is because it draws people’s attention if they see a name they recognised making them more likely to read the article.
Other conventions would be short quotations from various people which will be featured in the magazine. This is a useful thing to do as it makes the readers wonder what the quote could be related to and what the story behind it is. Page numbers giving reference to location of articles, with the name of the articles are used so that people can go straight to a certain feature instead of having the flick through several unwanted pages to find it.
Institution- This contents page would have been made by the company Kerrang as this is their magazine featuring relevant information in their chosen subjects, i.e. music. Only people that like and listen to the artists spoken about in the magazine are likely to buy and read it as it is of some relevance to them.
Ideology-The fact that the people in the images are all either tattooed, have microphones in their hands or are wearing mostly black clothing with skulls on them shows that the magazine believes in punk/rock ways of producing music. All of the people in the images look like they are relevant to the same type of genre and therefore they would all be relevant in this magazine.
Audience-I would say that this magazine is aimed at people who are into a certain type of music, which in this case would be punk/pop rock and mainly teenagers. They would find this magazine to be for them as it has information of bands/artists that they like and therefore would be interested in reading about.
Representation-I would say that this magazine portrays people punk/rock music as being quit violent and in some ways scary, this is because the people in the images all look rebellious, have tattoos and their facial expressions are quit aggressive.

My images
I chose this selection of images because i thought they would work best on the front of my magazine. they are all medium close ups and my model looks happy and comfortable in her suroundings which is the college library. The fact that the images where taken inside the college shows on her facial expression and body language how she feels being there.

Target audience and price and how often published
Because the magazine is aimed at students, I decided that my target audience would be college students who are between 16 -19 years old. I chose college rather than school students as I can relate to it more as I am one myself.
The price of my magazine will be based on my target audience, as they are students they won’t have a lot of money to spare for a magazine; therefore I have decided that my magazine will be one pound. I thought this was a reasonable price as it’s not too cheap so the college will make money from it but it’s not too expensive that the students can’t afford to buy it.
I also decided that the magazine will be printed monthly, this was also based on my target audience as they are more likely to have one pounds spare a month, than a week.
